Get ready to be hypnotized as Sailesh makes his reappearance on campus March 12 and 13.
Two shows will take place on campus throughout Sailesh’s time here. The main show will take place on Monday, March 12 in the University Center at 8 p.m. On Tuesday, March 13, an empowerment and motivation show will be held in the Student Union Ballroom at 10 a.m.
Sailesh made his debut at Southeastern last year with overall success, according to Southeastern’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) and students.
“We went to the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APAC) conference to see these people and we saw him there, and everyone was talking about him so we decided to bring him here,” said Ashish Acharya, junior accounting major and CAB student worker.
“I am excited to see that he is coming back,” said Taylor Krulisky, junior art education major. “He was great last year and I plan on attending this year also.”
At the main event on the night of March 12, students and viewers will receive free entry. CAB will provide refreshments, but they will be limited in quantity.
“The basis is that people come up on stage and they get hypnotized, but as for what he has them do and things like that evolves constantly,” said Todd McElroy, director of CAB. “We are hoping for 500 to 1,000 people to possibly attend. The reason we are having it at the University Center is to accommodate more people who want to be there.”
Volunteers will be randomly chosen from the audience. Depending on how big the crowd is, Sailesh might choose from 15 to 20 willing participants. According to his website, www.sailesh.ca, Sailesh states, “Strength lies in numbers, the more volunteers that choose to come up on stage and be the stars, the more merry the show is!”
“I have seen him four times, and he does the same activity, but there is always different people so you always get different reactions,” said Acharya.
Last year, Sailesh only performed the one show at night, but this time he is adding the empowerment and motivation show to his lineup.
“Here, Sailesh will go over things such as focus, stress relief and things of that nature,” said McElroy. “He is legit at what he does!”
The event is sponsored through CAB, whose mission is to offer students a variety of entertainment as a break from their hectic school routine. Look to CAB for numerous events coming up in March such as karaoke, funny t-shirts, laser tag, a visiting comedian and more.
