Pfeil and friends present ‘Meet the Justice League’

There’s a group of superheros making an appearance at Southeastern Louisiana University. You can catch Batman, Superman and the rest of The Justice League of America this Friday, Jan. 28, at the premiere of “Meet the Justice League” in the Recital Hall of the Music Building Annex at 9 p.m. “Meet the Justice League” is a Web series produced by Stephen and Simon Pfeil that will parody the lives of members of the popular DC Comics superhero group, The Justice League.

“Imagine a cross between superheros and ‘The Office,'” said co-producer and director Stephen Pfeil, a senior history major. “That’s the best thing I can compare it to. While we took a lot of liberties and exaggerations in the portrayal of the heroes, we’ve tried to stay really true to their comic book roots.”

However, this isn’t just a show for comic book nerds; “Meet the Justice League” is about a group of strong personalities with super powers who, for whatever reason, are trying to work together to solve the world’s problems.

The cast for “Meet the Justice League” is made up entirely of Southeastern students and alumni. The role of Superman is played by fitness freshman Aaron Pfeil, alum Robbie Beyl plays the part of Batman, alum Roxanne Pfeil-Huckabee plays Wonder Woman, health studies senior Jacob Quebedeaux is Green Lantern, alum Simon Pfeil is The Flash, alum Margaret Davis-Pfeil is Black Canary, accounting senior Dwayne Smith is the Martian Manhunter and alum Nathan Constant is Aquaman. The group made of family and friends enjoyed working together with Stephen on the production.

“It’s like working with the love child of Steven Spielberg and Lil’ Wayne,” said Smith, a senior accounting major.

This isn’t the first film project on which Stephen has worked. You can find his group, Pfeil Pfilms Productions, on Facebook. There you can find an artfully crafted stop motion LEGO Star Wars animation entitled “A 360 on Tanvar.” Stephen also has a weekly episodic web comic titled “Not Really… But Seriously,” that is currently on hiatus at its 75th issue to allow Stephen more time to work on season two of “Meet the Justice League.”

“Meet the Justice League” will also be available to view on Facebook at www.facebook.com/meetthejusticeleague or on YouTube at www.youtube.com/user/stpfeil. For more information you can check the “Meet the Justice League” Facebook group.
