‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’

Plot Synopsis: Set in London during the nineteenth century, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s literary legend Sherlock Holmes comes to life. During the play, the brilliant, witty Sherlock Holmes will take the stage moving through London’s tangled underworld, solving mystery and uncovering lies.
‘Encore, Encore’
When: March 8 to 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Vonnie Borden Theatre
Plot Synopsis: In this play, audience members will follow the life of Dorothy Parker, a famed literary critic. However, Parker’s strong career hardly mimics her life at home. Dorothy’s husband, a veteran of the First World War now addicted to alcohol and morphine, becomes increasingly difficult for her to love. Despite this, Parker maintains a facade of calm and normality. Will Parker ever leave the role of a happy critic? Students can find out in this play.
Missoula Children’s Theatre ‘Red Riding Hood’
When: April 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Where: Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts
Plot Synopsis: In this performance by the Missoula Children’s Theatre, audience members will be taken on a journey through time and space, into the whimsical world of fairy tales. Red Riding Hood is based on the classic tale of a wolf, a girl and her grandmother. In this play, however, all of that changes. While the characters appear on the stage, many more characters from folklore will be present, such as the Boy Who Cried Wolf, the Three Little Pigs and more.
‘Oedipus’
When: April 19 to 22; time TBA
Where: Vonnie Borden Theatre
Plot Synopsis: This ancient play, written by Sophocles, follows the life of Oedipus, a king of Thebes, whose determination to uncover a tragic secret may prove to be his undoing. The play will be directed by Chad Winters, an instructor of acting and theatre at Southeastern. Auditions will be held on January 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
“Oedipus is going to be very spectacular with lots of style,” said Winters. “It’s going to be a very collaborative piece with the actors, choreographer, director and all the designers creating a very cool, visual experience.”
