The 2012 Homecoming Court reception was the first formal presentation of the court this week.
The members of this year’s court are Ashish Acharya, Kenneesha Johnson, Winfred “PJ” Hills, Jr., Shanel Wolf, Hunter Robinson, Kaylee George, Brandon “BK” Nettles, Kristen Phelps, Jeremy Lloyd, Jessica B. LeBlanc, Joshua Allen, Abbey Smith, Devonte’ Bryant and Shawndreka Gatlin.
The Homecoming Court reception began with a procession of the members of the court in couples led by 2011 Homecoming King Jordan Leggett.
“The reception really showed support for this year’s court,” said Leggett. “I believe that these students represent Southeastern in a superb way.”
The reception was held at the Alumni Center on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m., hosted by the Alumni Association and sponsored by President John L. Crain.
“I’m really excited to be on the homecoming court this year,” said Abbey Smith, a junior majoring in kinesiology. “It was awesome to have my family come in from out of town to experience [the reception] with me.”
All students on the court expressed excitement about the week.
“I’m looking forward to enjoying all the festivities of Homecoming Week with the rest of the court, and of course, cheering on the Lions this weekend,” said Hunter Robinson, a senior majoring in communications.
Devonte Bryant said that he was looking forward to attending all of the Homecoming Week events with his fellow court members.
“I am looking forward to spending time with a great Homecoming Court,” said Devonte’ Bryant, a junior majoring in marketing. “My favorite Homecoming event is the Bonfire. It’s just such a fun time for everyone to bond and spread school spirit.”
On Saturday, Oct. 27 at halftime during the football game against Central Arkansas, the 2012 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
