Southeastern sororities included in the National Panhellenic Conference welcomed 162 ladies into a lifetime of sisterhood during Fall Rush Week and Bid Day on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Sorority recruitment began at a summer social where students and parents were invited to learn more about Greek life, visit sorority houses and meet current members.
Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu, Sigma Sigma Sigma and Theta Phi Alpha are five active Southeastern chapters of the 26 sororities included in the National Panhellenic Conference.
Recruitment took place Aug. 13-18 with a week of informational parties and events educating those interested on each organization and their philanthropic efforts, values and important aspects of each organization. The week ended with Bid Day, in which participants received an official invitation to join the sisterhood of a sorority, followed by a celebration encouraging interaction between newfound sisters.
The Greek community at Southeastern participates in many social events and service activities throughout the year and are members of various organizations.
“I have wanted to rush since my freshman year,” said Katy Bertrand, new member of Alpha Omicron Pi. “I love what each sorority is about, and I love that each sorority has their own philanthropy. I wanted to be a part of something bigger and be active on campus. Through the experience of recruitment I’ve met so many amazing people. Southeastern has a great Greek program, and I am so happy to be a part of it.”
