Cayman Cafe puts on Mocktails Pre-Party with Hall Council

Cayman Cafe joined with the Hall Council to put on a pre-party for the celebrated Mocktails on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Cayman Cafe. The event featured games, prizes and tasty selections such as non-alcoholic jello shots, desert shots and a mashed-potato martini bar.
“We wanted to partner with the Office of Student Engagement to promote the Mocktails event,” said April Field, marketing coordinator for Aramark.  “We try to identify with topics important to college students and promote healthy living.”
Students could participate in a battle of the dorms while sipping their non-alcoholic jello shots.  Any Southeastern resident could gain points for their hall by wearing their dorm T-shirt or by participating in games.
One game was played in which students from each hall tried to say their hall name with as many marshmallows in their mouth as possible.  Winners for this event were students, Tyron Miller, Emily Nodie, Austin Cradic and Alyssa Alexis.
“I wanted to participate in hall events and support Campus Dining,” said Trevor Vampran, sophomore communications major.
Students had the opportunity to not only get more involved in their hall life, but to see a wider variety from the chefs and cooks.
Cayman Cafe employees worked all day to prepare for the event and gave each dish enough thought to ensure students enjoyment.
“We knew what we had to do and decided what others would want,” said Chris Nauck, cook.  “We took time into it.”
Not only were the food and desserts made to taste good, but they were also specially designed to look good.
“Presentation is something I look at all the time,” said Randal Gass, chef.  “We wanted to be able to see what was inside.  It’s more visually pleasing.”
Upon seeing the different arrangement prepared by the chefs and cooks, senior digital art major John Meunier said, “The different color liquids caught my eye.  And I love dessert.  I’m down for it.”
Cayman Cafe will have more deals and activities for students in the future.  October Fest will be the next event held on Oct. 10.
