The 2026 College2Career Day is this Saturday, Feb. 28 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Robin Roberts Broadcast Media Center in D Vickers.
The event is open to college students majoring in communications, journalism or broadcasting, as well as interested students from other majors. High school students enrolled in their school’s television or radio programs are also encouraged to attend the event.
Steve Zaffuto, an instructor and director of student programming in the Department of Communication and Media Studies, shared his input on the event.
“I’m feeling excited about it because it’s kind of like a career fair where students can actually get a little one-on-one time with some of these station owners. I am hoping students get contacts, at least a little more direction as far as learning about how radio and television stations work and information about the different available jobs,” Zafutto said.
Throughout the day, students will listen to panels featuring professional Louisiana broadcasters and radio stations to gain insight into what these careers entail.
Students who attend will have access to networking opportunities and potential job opportunities. Also, students will get feedback for their reels and resumes.
“Even if you are not in any electronic and multimedia journalism concentrations, students should still check it out. If you think about your average broadcast entity, about a third of their jobs involve using the camera; they need writers, marketers and more. If you’re a communication student, we encourage you to go,” Zaffuto said.
The event is free for attendees, and lunch will also be provided. The dress code is business attire, and students must register beforehand. Students can register for the event here.
Exhibitors can register at this link. Exhibitor arrival is at 8 a.m., and exhibits last until 1 p.m. Exhibitors will be able to connect with students and potential future employees.
Space is limited for exhibitors and students, so register before time runs out. For attendees traveling out of town, the LAB has a block of rooms at the Hilton, but will not cover hotel expenses. Those attending can book their rooms here.
If visitors have any further questions, they can visit the LAB’s website for further contact information.
