Senior music education major Miranda Sensat was crowned Miss Southeastern Louisiana University 2026 at the Columbia Theatre on Friday evening. Sensat previously competed in 2024 and 2025, finishing first runner-up both years.
“This is my third year doing it. Third time’s a charm, clearly. So I just, I feel very proud of myself,” Sensat said.
During her time as Miss Southeastern 2026, Sensat said she will carry out her community service initiative, “Teal for Dee,” in which she plans to raise awareness among women about ovarian cancer symptoms and encourage regular checkups.
She said she will also use the initiative to connect with students and work with the counseling center to start a grief group so others struggling with loss can have a safe space. Sensat said she will also advocate for student organizations around campus, giving them a platform for students to become more actively involved.
Eight contestants competed for the 2026 crown. Freshman biological sciences major Mia Calais won first runner-up. Her community service initiative, “Your Heart, Your Health,” focused on heart disease awareness and prevention.
Senior biological sciences major Kiley Angelle Posey won second runner-up, and her initiative, “P.I.N.K. Pledge,” emphasized women’s health, preventive screenings and access to essential care.
Other contestants brought diverse service projects to the competition, from combating student burnout to promoting arts integration in education. Several awards were given out Friday evening, including:
People’s Choice Award – Mia Calais
Legacy Scholarship Award – Taniece Delestre
Miss Congeniality Award – Kiley Angelle Posey
Four Point Essay Scholarship – Patrixa Kim Flores
Passion for the Performing Arts Essay Scholarship – Kiley Angelle Posey

“Honestly, I think I’m most excited to go to Miss Louisiana again. It was so much fun last year, and I just can’t wait to represent our schools as best I can,” Sensat said.
As Miss Southeastern, Sensat will now prepare to compete at the Miss Louisiana Pageant this summer.
