The Lady Lions softball team returned from a loss to take a 2-1 series win against Lamar University.

The teams competed in North Oak Park on April 12-13. The wins improved the Lady Lions’ overall record to 24-17.

In the first game, Briahna Bennett, a freshman pitcher, hit a grand slam, and in the third match, Bennett batted in the only run of the game.

“Briahna has a freakish skill set, and we have been waiting for that for a long time,” said Rick Fremin, head coach of softball. “She’s a heck of an athlete. Briahna is great in the box offensively, and she has the potential to be a great power hitter. In a big-time moment, her being a freshman, it was just awesome to see her do that. I was extremely happy for her.”

Fremin discussed the series victory.

“Anytime you can win a couple of conference games, it’s a big deal,” shared Fremin. “We were tied in the standings coming in, and they have been having a great year, and we executed our game very well against them.”
