Across campus, student ambassadors have been promoting their colleges and hosting engaging events. These are students who fulfill positions of leadership to promote campus life, educate students on resources, provide mentorship and organize student events.
Several colleges have a group of student ambassadors, including the Colleges of Business, Education, Nursing and Health Sciences and Science & Technology. The typical job of being a Southeastern ambassador includes recruiting students, participating in Lions Pride Preview tabling and tours and bridging the gap between faculty and students. Although they all share the same roles and responsibilities of being an ambassador, each college has its unique qualities.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) Ambassadors organize community outreach, including raising money for cancer research and St. Jude patients.
“For outreach, we organize efforts like St. Jude drives, bake sales and a toy drive for the Bella Bowman Foundation, coordinating with the organizations and promoting the events,” Stephanie Mendoza, the director of social media and marketing, said.
Along with developing leadership skills and making a positive impact, CNHS Ambassadors expressed the most rewarding parts of their position are helping welcome future students, making connections in the community and representing their college with pride. Applications are available on their social media.
The College of Business Ambassadors provides tours and presentations to prospective business students. Other responsibilities include tabling in Garret Hall, attending meetings, staying involved on campus and helping the community.
A newcomer to the College of Business Ambassador team, sophomore business major Lindsey Barthelemy, said the most rewarding part of the program is representing a community that does so much for her.
“You can find a college of business ambassadors everywhere. I am given networking opportunities, scholarships, and have met so many great leaders,” Barthelemy said.
Barthelemy said to become an ambassador requires a 3.0 GPA, involvement in another organization and public speaking experience. First, there is an online application linked in their social media followed by a one-on-one interview upon selection.
The College of Education ambassadors connect faculty and students by hosting Donuts with the Dean (and faculty). This creates an opportunity for students to build relationships with peers and professors in a casual environment.
These ambassadors stay involved with campus tabling opportunities and host events to aid students’ college experiences.
One example is Wind Down Wednesday, which provides students with a space for quiet studying or stress-free breaks.
The president, senior education major Megan McDaniel, said being able to represent the College of Education to create positive and welcoming spaces for students makes the role especially fulfilling.
The College of Science and Technology (CST) ambassadors program was founded in December 2025 by its three officers, Ava Malnar, Anna Malnar and Gabby Milesk. These students represent the college at Lion Pride Preview, career fairs, the CST Homecoming Tailgate, Meet the Dean events, TechConnect and CST welcome events.
They engage with all students to promote professional opportunities for networking and recruitment.
CST ambassadors are selected because they are high-achieving students who demonstrate professional leadership skills. They become eligible for special scholarships and establish relationships with faculty and the industry.
The CST ambassador application is on Instagram, where the program posts updates and announcements.
Student ambassadors across Southeastern play vital roles in shaping campus life, supporting incoming students and connecting students with faculty. Students interested in becoming an ambassador should stay updated on social media and apply when applications open.
