By being properly informed, students can make the most of university resources for success.

At the Sims Memorial Library on SGA Drive, students can access computers, printers, study rooms and books covering various topics.

On North Campus, students may rent textbooks from Textbook Rental. To find a list of required textbooks, check the “Textbook Rental Information” tab of LEONet. Some courses such as labs may require supplemental materials, which can be purchased at the University Bookstore in the Student Union Annex.

For assistance with courses, students can get tutoring at the Tutoring Center in the Center for Student Excellence. The center has scheduled tutoring Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and drop-in tutoring on Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Sunday at the library.

The University Health Center in the Student Union Annex offers services including physical exams, STI testing and immunizations. Appointments can be made by visiting the health center’s web page. First time visitors should fill out forms available online before going to their first appointment.

To schedule an appointment with the University Counseling Center, students can stop by the center in the Student Union Annex.

Students can pick up a snack at markets located around campus: The Mane Market Convenience Store in Louisiana Hall, the Mane Market Too in located in Garrett Hall, Mane Market North Provisions on Demand on North Campus, the Marketplace Provisions on Demand in the Student Union Annex and the Union Market Provisions on Demand located in the War Memorial Student Union. Hours of operations vary at different locations.

Students can access computers and printers at the Student Technology Center on the first floor of Fayard Hall. Various departments also operate computer labs either solely or in conjunction with the Student Technology Fee. For a full list of the labs and their locations, visit the “Computer Labs” section of the university website.

Anyone who feels unsafe walking on campus can contact the University Police Department to request an escort at 985-549-3835 for non-emergencies and at 985-549-2222 for emergencies.

With the presentation of a valid student ID, students can ride the “Lion Traxx” Shuttle Bus Service. A list of shuttle stops can be found on the Lion TRAXX portion of the university website.

The Student Government Association provides Scantrons with the presentation of a valid student ID. They also offer pencils, pens, rain ponchos, coffee and water.

The Mane Dish, located on the second floor of the War Memorial Student Union, has been ranked as the best college food in Louisiana.

Students looking for physical activity can head to the pool in the Kinesiology and Health Studies building or the gym in the Pennington Student Activity Center. Students must bring their student ID to use either facility.

Students can receive help with their writings at the Writing Center in D Vickers Hall Room 210. Appointments can be made by calling 985-549-2076 or emailing [email protected] They can also visit the Foreign Language Resource Center in Room 211 in the same building for assistance with foreign language classes.

All of these services are free to students, faculty and staff. Many services offer late hours. More information on times for each service can be found on their respective portions of the university’s website.
