As the men’s basketball team starts its season, here is a look at the team’s performance last season.

1- Number of wins the Lions were away from the Southland Conference Championship last season.

6.4- Highest number of 3’s averaged last season by 2018 Alumnus Joshua Filmore.

7- The team’s highest number of blocked shots in a single game last year against Centenary College of Louisiana and Northwestern State University.

9- The Lions’ longest winning streak last basketball season. Also the number of colleges in Louisiana that the university will play this year.

2018 Alumnus Jordan Capps said, “You go through ups and downs during the season, but I feel like we got hot at the right time, and everything we had been practicing started to click, and then we rode the momentum.”

13.4- Capps’ points-per-game average last season.

Capps talked about his successful season.

“I attribute it to my daily grind with waking up every morning at 5 or 6 a.m. and hitting the gym every single day,” said Capps. “I lived in the gym.”

15- Number of wins in the Southland Conference last year in the regular season. 

22- Number of total wins last year.

25- University’s most personal fouls last year against Tulane University.

31- Number of total regular season games this year by the Lions and number of most points scored last season by Capps.

“My coaches challenged me in that game in particular. I showed up and I let my game speak for itself,” stated Capps.

32- The biggest margin of victory last season for the Lions, who played Centenary College of Louisiana.

“We wanted to go out and make a statement win around that time of year and I think we did exactly that,” said Capps.

45.4- Shooting percentage last year for the Lions.

50- Highest Number of rebounds in one game by the Lions last year against Southern University of New Orleans.

12,682- Number of total miles the team will have to travel this season for away games.
