The Mane Dish, Southeastern’s primary food service option on campus, underwent renovations this summer and is scheduled to fully reopen at the beginning of the fall semester.
The renovations are in agreement with Auxillary Services’ new contract with Aramark, Southeastern’s longtime food services partner.
The contract requires new seating, the creation of a small meeting space and the addition of branded food stations, each featuring unique cuisines with its own distinct name. This should provide “an enhanced customer experience” and revamp the decade-old Mane Dish, according to Robin Parker, the director for marketing and strategic initiatives for Auxillary Services.
Dining Services showcased six new branded food stations on their Instagram, which will start serving in the fall.
“Mangia!” is a made-to-order pasta station with kiosk ordering. “The Block” will offer rotisserie meats and sides such as collard greens for a “classic Southern dining experience.”
“Global Kitchen” will provide diverse menus from various regions. “Coastal” will offer food from “the Gulf Coast to the Mediterranean,” and students will be able to learn about local food sourcing.
“Farm Stand” will be a vegetable bar “featuring locally grown seasonal produce and creative, chef-inspired creations.” Finally, “1925,” named after the year Southeastern was founded, will serve burgers with locally-baked buns which students will order from guest kiosks.
Although there are many changes happening to the Mane Dish, students can still expect to find the “True Balance” food station that will continue to offer food for students and guests with special dietary needs.
“I’m genuinely so excited to come back to school in August to try out all the new food stations, especially the Farm Stand,” junior vocal performance major Chance Rodenkirch said.
